Civil and Structural Engineering:
Doug Schwind PE, PLS - Owner and President
Doug is licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Professional Land Surveyor
(P.L.S.) in Washington (#28023), Montana (#9953) and Idaho (#6854). He has a B.S.
in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho and is continuing education in
Advanced Foundation Engineering (CE 562), Engineering Hydrology(CE 421) and Earthquake
Engineering(CE 566) via the University of Idaho. And has complete accredited PMBOK training
as a Project Management Professional.
Doug has over 41 years of experience in the engineering and surveying profession.
He has a diverse background in the Civil Engineering fields of road, storm drainage,
gravity sewer, & site grading planning and designs. Doug is a well-versed civil
engineer and understands client concerns regarding schedules and budgets as well
as objectives for aesthetics, quality and constructability. He has been an expert
witness in the areas of storm drainage and construction plan preparation.
Over his career, Doug has developed considerable experience in the following major
areas of engineering:
- Hydrology and hydrologic engineering for comprehensive plans and storm drainage
plans
- Project designs for regional and small onsite storm drainage projects
- Civil designs for site grading, gravity sewer systems, sewer lift stations, water
distribution systems for potable water, and bid specifications for construction
- Structural and geotechnical engineering to provide continuity and balance between
soils investigations
- Foundation and structural designs for residential and light commercial wood frame
and timber structures
- Construction Management, Value Engineering and Cost Estimating for Civil Engineering
projects
Doug is also an active licensed Land Surveyor, which provides the background necessary
to provide a complete project from initial project conception, through data gathering,
and through construction staking/as-built.
Surveying: Our firm utilizes the most current robotic survey and data collection equipment
integrated with Land Development Desktop survey and engineering software to create
clean, efficient transfer of field to office data for the development of design
base maps. The same office-to-field transfer of data is utilized for construction
staking of all facets of the project. Our survey staff is cross-trained in the creation
of base mapping and basic development of contour mapping, as well as civil design
of roads, sewer, water and storm drainage profiles. This gives them a more comprehensive
understanding of design, making them more effective in collecting survey data in
the field.
